CARS AND COFFEE IN OAKDALE
july 18, 2026

This, our fourth Cars & Coffee event since forming Valley Classics Car Club earlier this year was another success.  We had around 26 cars show up with 23 registering for the People's Choice Award competition.  The weather couldn't have been better, and our locations, at the old Rite Aid Pharmacy in Oakdale had ample shade.  The cars were totally cool and so were the people

As you can see, people really relax at our shows, they talk cars and make friends.

ABOVE: This spot is becoming "F-body Alley".  An '86 Trans Am, a gorgeous '67 Camaro RS convertible, and the awesome '72 Camaro RS race car.  Very cool.

BELOW: Never to be outdone, the Mopar Mafia showed up with 4 mighty warriors and two of them were Demon 170s, the two book ends.

ABOVE: Check out this sweet '63 Nova convertible.  I can't say that I've seen many.

BELOW: The collection was quite eclectic, with a '63 Rambler, a '64 T-bird, a '23 T-bucket, a Firebird, a Mustand and a Trans Am.

ABOVE: That's my car (Andy).  It's an '05 Mustang GT.  I did a mild custom on it, some people can't even tell.

BELOW: I fell in love with this '72 Trans Am with a 455.

ABOVE & BELOW: This wicked '72 Camaro RS is a true race car, competing in Autocross, Road Racing and Hill Climbs.  It sounded wicked and it should.  That's a custom-built 434 stroker.  A what?  A 434 stroker.  I never heard of one myself and was quite surprised that it's a small block with a tall block supporting a 4-inch stroke.  Owner George put out a sign that explains what a 434 stroker is and how they're built.  Impressive.

ABOVE:  And our People's Choice winner this month is Pete and his drop-dead gorgeous '69 Firebird 400 convertible.  A real jaw-dropper.  Congrats to Pete, and thanks go out to everyone who attended.  Hope you had as much fun as I did.

So, at last month's Cars & Coffee in Oakdale, a fellow named Jim said he had a lot of car show trophies just gathering dust and asked if I'd like to have a few to re-pupose into trophies we could give away at our shows.  I had no idea what I was getting in to.  This morning his showed up in his awesome Challenger Demon 170 and opened the cavernous trunk to reveal these nine HUGE trophies.  Some were nearly 3 feet tall!  I guess I'd bitten off more than I could chew.  I wasn't even sure they'd fit in my Mustang for the trip home.  But the good news is that I made it and I have them stored away for the near future.  I do think we should re-purpose them because they are incredible, and it would be such a waste to let them languishin an attic somewhere.  They were all from Corvette shows that Jim entered and won, mostly in the 1990s.  So, don't be surprised if we give one of these monsters away at one of our future Cars & Coffees.  Of course they'll have a new plaque on them with the current info.

And as a parting shot, say hello to Lulu.  She is Valley Classics co-founder David's and she had a wonderful time at the show.
