STREET DREAMS TRACY 2026 CAR SHOW
For the past 6 years, the City of Tracy CA has shut down its entire downtown area for a kickass car show called Street Dreams. And it gets better every years. Over 200 cars showed up this year and it was quite an eclectic collection, some absolute show-stoppers and some humble drivers and everything in between. The setting was nice with lots of trees and shade, the people were in a great mood and of course the cars were fantastic! Rather than gush about the show, let's look at some cars.
ABOVE: I just love '55 Chevy's. This one is a Bel Air 2-door hardtop, love that 2-tone. Those are 19-inch rims on there. They look great.
BELOW: This is a rare bird: a 1963 Chevy Nova SS convertible with a 6-cylinder. In those days, the SS option wasn't just a performance package, it was an appearance package first, and on some models, like the Nova/Chevy II, it was possible to order a 6-cylinder engine with the SS package.
ABOVE: This gorgeous 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix really has the look. Love those 8-lug wheels.
BELOW: This 1979 Pontiac Trans Am is a 10th Anniversary Limited Edition, of which only 7,500 were built. This is the only model where the 'screaming chicken' on the hood extended down onto the fenders.
ABOVE: Tracy PD showed up with their SWAT assault vehicle. I love the lines.
ABOVE & BELOW: This 1970 Cadillac ambulance turned a lot of heads. Especially when you looked in back to see it fully equipped and even had a patient in the gurney.
ABOVE: Chip's lovely Shell Valley Cobra is really put together right. You could see it throughout. And he built it all himself, 26 years ago. That's also his wicked modern-day GT350 behind him. Nice cars, Chip.
BELOW: This cool hot rod won Best of Show. And it deserved it. I loved the gold accents on the hood louvers.
ABOVE: There were a few big Caddies on display.
BELOW: This is a 2018 Ferrari GTB. What a car!
ABOVE: Our good buddy Glenn showed up with his award-winning "Herbie"-tribute Baja Bug. He even has a shirt to match!
BELOW: This wild Dodge Charger is called "Kryton", can you guess why?
ABOVE: Here's my (Andy) shy little 2005 Mustang GT. It gets very little attention at shows. Too bad too, because I think its great.
ABOVE & BELOW: Talk about going the extra mile, these folks totally deck out their '56 T-Bird like this at all the shows. The crowd loves it!
ABOVE & BELOW: But the real stars of the show were these two unlikely candidates. Valley Classics co-founder David traded it cute red-and-white VW bus for this darling 1989 Mini Cooper. I thought the VW drew a crowd, this little thing draws them in like a magnet. All day long people were coming up, taking pictures, David is very generous with his car and allows people, especially kids, to pose it in for pictures. It went on lie this all day long. And next to it is Valley Classics member Lawrences patina'd Baja Bug which is named "Ugly Betty". You'd think that will all the gorgeous metal in this show that people wouldn't even notice it, but lots of folks were drawn to it and also posed their kids for photos. Curious!
In conclusion, the Street Dreams Tracy 2026 car show was a blast and I'll be back next year. Don't miss this show. And it's only $25 to register your car. But don't wait, it fills up fast!
